Prop 8 in California and Amendment 2 here in Florida, among others, were great disappointments for many people. Some of us, in voting for what we believe is the side of justice and equality for all, elected the first African American President of the United States and at the same time American's rights were denied and stripped away. Who's idea was it to let a majority vote on minority rights? Would the rights of women and black people have ever changed if we left it up to the majority? Bittersweet was the feeling waking up Nov 5th.
So here we are more than a month later and people all over are talking about the latest issue of Newsweek's cover article The Religious Case for Marriage:Our Mutual Joy by Lisa Miller. If you have not read it, regardless of your position, it is worth the read.
